About

The College Hoops Report was created so I could write about men’s college basketball wherever I might be located.

What makes this blog unique is that I have moved around quite a bit. I've lived in Boulder, Chicago, El Paso, Indianapolis, and now Champaign in the last eight years (that's just as exhausting as it sounds, I struggled remembering my addresses at all those cities recently). My history of moving is largely due to marrying an ambitious education scholar whose career has required moving to various states across the country.

Despite moving around so much, I gained valuable experience in my sports journalism career.

After graduating from IUPUI’s Sports Journalism program and interning for the Indiana Pacers in 2011-2012, I came to the realization that college basketball is my passion. I started off as the publisher of the DePaul Rivals site (best memory was actually covering a high school game between Sean O'Mara and Tyler Ulis) in 2012-2013, but had to leave the position after one year because I relocated to Boulder, CO to join my wife, who started her PHD program at the University of Colorado Boulder. This led me to cover Colorado for then-Scout and Colorado State for Rivals from 2014-2016. After briefly covering UIC during the 2016-2017 season, I decided to start a blog to feature my own work. That led to the creation of The College Hoops Report.

Writing for Rivals helped me learn about the importance of covering recruiting. I have come to see there is a major void when it comes to recruiting content for mid-major teams. I hope to fill that void and produce quality content that will keep readers engaged.
